This is a pure cotton 5 x 3 feet handwoven Kalamkari rug | dhurrie with beautiful paisley floral patterns set in earthy tones of burgundy, green and rust, hand block printed by skilled artisans from the state of Telangana, South of India.
The beauty of this hand block printed rug is highlighted with a rich burgundy and rust border running on the edges with a floral pattern.
The rug is coloured using organic vegetable colours and dyes once the carpet is woven on the hand loom, making sure that no two rugs are alike.
Kalamkari is a centuries old craft form where the technique of Kalamkari paintings involves resist – dyeing and hand printing, using blocks taking upto 4 to 5 days for the making of one rug or runner.
